Free congress ticket and lots of networking at the Tonmeistertagung?

In November, the VDT is once again organising a major industry event, the 33rd Tonmeistertagung (tmt33), in Düsseldorf. Such a large event needs many people to make it a success. That is why we are still looking for helping hands who would like to join our large team of volunteers and support us in organising tmt33.

There are two different areas of responsibility to cover: admission and hall technology.

The admission crew: ticket controls at the main entrance and in front of the halls

To enter tmt33, you need an admission ticket that is subject to a charge. We distinguish between two different types of ticket: the ticket for the exhibition area and the full programme ticket, which also allows you to attend the congress presentations. We therefore need controls both at the main entrance and in front of the congress halls. We have a simplified ticket system this year, so that admission at the main entrance (where tickets are scanned with an app) and in front of the congress rooms (where we only need a visual check) will be quick and easy.

The admission crew is doing a responsible job. To be able to do it, reliability and openness are required above all. Certain basic skills in English or other languages are advantageous, but not necessary. We need a large team of just under 40 people.

Those who work in the admission crew will receive a full programme ticket as a thank-you, which incidentally is also valid as a local transport ticket in almost all of NRW when printed out. Free drinks are available in an extra room for all helpers.

What else will I gain from working in the admissions crew? It is the ideal starting point to begin your own networking! You can see the name and position of all visitors, you can approach each person and start a dialogue on a professional level. You are part of the VDT volunteer team, and as such are particularly welcome guests at the VDT Lounge, where networking can then continue. You will get to know each other and make contacts with students from other universities and degree programmes. At the end of tmt33, you will receive a certificate of your voluntary commitment within VDT e. V., the largest German-speaking professional association in the industry.

At this stage, we are enquiring about your general availability during the days of the trade fair. The exact time allocation will be made in consultation with the admission crew later, when the congress programme has already been published in detail. Everyone can then decide which sessions they would like to attend and which shifts they would like to work.

Do you need accommodation in Düsseldorf? and we'll work with you to find a solution!

Interested? Then register with our crew of helpers. Are you a VDT member or have you already been an author or co-author at a VDT event? Then simply log in to MyVDT and go to the menu item ‘Surveys & Elections’. Fill out our helper questionnaire and send it off. We look forward to hearing from you!

The technical crew: Technical support for sound, projection and lighting

The technical crew does real technical work and takes on individual responsibility. As a rule, you are qualified to do this if you have already studied for a semester or two or are in training, if you have done a job or two in the industry or have worked on projects. We impart detailed knowledge to the crew, and everyone should bring personal responsibility and commitment. Some basic foreign language skills, especially in English, are advantageous but not necessary. Another prerequisite for participation is that you are available during the set-up and familiarisation phase from Monday, 10 November, 8:00 am and until after the main dismantling phase on Saturday, 15 November, 8:00 pm. In return, you will receive training on some new technologies, be given guidance, be able to look into various areas (wireless, intercom, lighting, digital routing, ...) and can cite this very intensive project work as a recognised reference.

Anyone working in the technical crew will of course receive a four-day full programme ticket, which is also valid as a local transport ticket in almost all of NRW when printed out. Meal vouchers for the trade fair catering and free drinks are available for all helpers in the technical crew. If necessary, we will organise accommodation in Düsseldorf. The members of the technical crew will be admitted to the VDT free of charge for two years. In addition, there is a small expense allowance for this work.

What else do I gain from working in the technical crew? The most important thing here is personal networking, after all you serve the industry's luminaries in the halls and can talk to them on a very low-threshold, professional level. You are part of the VDT's honorary team and as such are particularly welcome guests at the VDT Lounge, where networking can continue. You will get to know each other and make contacts with students from other universities and degree programmes. At the end of tmt33, you will receive a certificate of your voluntary commitment within VDT e. V., the largest German-speaking professional association in the industry. And the qualified, intensive work at the major tmt33 event will also help you to make great professional progress!
