Guidelines for Moderating a Session
Dear colleague,
Thank you very much for being a moderator at the Tonmeistertagung 2025. On this web page we briefly inform you about what this moderation task involved.
Content
Procedure
- You will receive the contact details of the speakers of your session(s) in order to discuss the details with them. It is a good idea to contacting them before the Tonmeistertagung. For final arrangements, it is best to arrange a meeting point just before the session.
- Please inform all contributors that the session must end on time. This is crucial, as the program is planned continuosly nearly without any breaks and must be completed on time.
- Please also point out that product and company advertising is not allowed for product-neutral contributions (see below).
- At the beginning of the session, introduce the overall topic of the session in a few words and name the individual speakers. It would be great to also mention any poster presentations that belong to the topic, including the speakers.
- At the beginning of a contribution you introduce the speaker. The introduction should be short, because it shortens the time of the presentation.
- 5 to 10 minutes before the end of the contribution you give a signal to the speaker.
- 5 minutes before the end of the presentation, you let the speaker finish and open the Q&A session.
- You moderate the Q&A session and end it on time, so that the next contribution can start at the right time.
Room Equipment
Our technical director is responsible for the technical equipment of the hall as well as for the media technology of the workshop presentations. Please ask all contributors who are not only giving a pure speech presentation, if they have already clarified their technology, the formats to be delivered and the like with Sebastian. In some cases (in the immersive rooms) a sound check appointment is also useful.
Product Contributions
So-called product-oriented contributions are clearly marked in the program. These are contributions from a company that pays to present its services and / or products in a good light as part of the Tonmeistertagungs program. All other contributions, which therefore do not carry this marking, are to be kept neutral. Company advertising and product promotion are not allowed here. Of course, equipment used may be mentioned (for example, the microphones used). But at the latest, if the products or services are presented as a solution to a described problem (in contrast to a product-unrelated technical problem solution), the border to a product contribution is crossed. Please stop the presentation in such a case. It is advisable to already clarify this situation in the preliminary discussion with the speakers.
Contribution language
The Tonmeistertagung is attended by visitors from German-speaking countries as well as from other languages. It is therefore absolutely essential to hold the session in the language in which it was announced. Asking "Who doesn't speak German here?" and then switching from the announced English to German is prohibited, because that would be strongly exclusionary.
Registration
Of course, as a presenter of a session you will get a free entry to the whole conference. For this purpose, you will see a corresponding discount code in MyVDT, which is directly linked to the ticket store.
